Traces the beginnings of the unique plant and animal life in the primeval world of Gondwana 150 million years ago to the evolution of the marsupials and their radiation as the dominant mammal group in Australia today – culminating in the iconic Red kangaroo. Part of a series of six programmes for Australia’s 1988 Bicentenary about the evolution of the island continent and its animals and plants. Three of the programmes were produced by David Parer for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation Natural History Unit with BBC, PBS and the Australian Heritage Commission.
